I don't remember what I said about it, but if it was from ten years ago or so, it was probably nothing nice at all. After all, the local HS equivalent where I used to live was really bad, and I thought that was how all education would be from that point on.
But mathematics is a lot more about logic now. It's tough, but it isn't mindless. It isn't the arithmetic I referred to when I was young and when forced on a long walk, said "I'd rather be doing mathematics than this".
I've used some of what I've learned in statistics for purposes quite unrelated to the context I learned it in, too. So that's nice.
It is a lot of work, though, and I'd say that they're moving a bit too quickly on the current linalg. It does sometimes feel like drinking from a fire hose: keep up or you'll be lost.
(Of course, one shouldn't discount that I've also become older and thus better at using my mind in general. Or so I think.)
