davvA bad power supply or cable just blew one of the controller chips on a disk on my desktop.
And there's no backup.
I will pay data recovery for it if it comes to that, but they charge insane prices.

… unfortunately, that probably doesn't help fix it. Huff. Controller chips are hard to do anything about! The very high prices aren't for nothing—it can take an awful lot of finesse and trickery—and I wouldn't be surprised if they charged more for anything other than the most Extremely Common of filesystems (so no ext4), either.
