Alright, here's a thing not to do. Type "reboot" while in on a Unix terminal... then a second later discover that oops, you were actually logged into another computer.

(Perception fumble.)

A slightly worse thing to do is to type the above when you've been intending to send someone an IM because it was an unfamiliar nick and you wondered who he was, but the chat client didn't log the initial conversation that happened while you were away, so you don't have any records of his SN to type when your computer comes back up.

So, yeah... someone meeped at me in the middle of the night here. I wasn't around, so he went offline again. I wondered who he was, and I was intending to write a reply the day after, but then my fumble happened.

If any of you know someone who has an AIM SN that contains the letter 'o' as well as the number 39, let me know. That's about all I can remember. I also think he had "border letters", kind of like "xx whatever xx" (just not xx), but I'm not sure.

If you are that someone, definitely let me know.

I'm curious.

EDIT: Through a little cleverness, basically searching the disk for something I remembered he'd said, I found a fragment of swap memory (or something, not going to complain! ) containing that line with his SN and all. I've added him; now I just have to wait for him to go online so I can talk to him :)

EDIT II: He never showed up again, and I suspect he's a bot. Recently, I've been getting more random messages and IM spam, all from people who leave a single message and disappear... so I'm thinking he was the first. He could, of course, simply be invisible.

I think you should go read Unicorn Jelly. It's time to clear away a certain stench.

The book is stuck somewhere... I ordered from Amazon, but from one of the non-Amazon vendors. I don't know what's going on with it, and in my current state of mind, I honestly can't visit the website.

I was referring to Draque. You can take it from here.

Hah, no. But I did just spend almost all of the last month in various tiny mental hospitals in Central Texas, which allowed me to come to some subtle realizations. One such realization was that the proper field of science in which to apply fractal mathematics (and other aspects of chaos theory) was not physics, but rather chemistry.

I've been watching your sprints for long enough. At the end of each sprint, there is Draque, telling you why your concepts don't work. I also infer that, after the disintegration of Draconic (in its original state), the more active members dispersed to various online forums. Completely by accident, I discovered one such forum, which Draque was dominating. Intellectually speaking.

Scientists, and scientists-in-training, become very skilled at recognizing intellectual parasites. Now, I don't mean to break up a long friendship. I do, however, mean to expand the finer details of a certain world of your insight.

With apologies, I will be very unreliable over the next few months. I'm about to be diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, resulting from repeated mis-diagnoses and mistreatment at the hands of UT System psychiatric and security staff. Once I am diagnosed, I will initiate a class action against the UT System, on behalf of the graduate students of UT Austin. It will be very chaotic.

But throughout, I remain your friend.
